Work Wednesday—Almost There

This past Weekend o’ Work is brought to you by New Toys . . .

We started off on Friday with the unloading of the fireplace. There were at least eight boxes inside a larger box, also filled with Styrofoam.

While my husband worked on this, with my minimal assistance, I volunteered to change out the doorknobs and deadbolts on two doors. Well. It started off just fine, but quickly deteriorated. And by “deteriorated,” I mean that he had to do a little, um, readjustment.

Not much. Really.

But they look great now!

And then the truck arrived:

I didn’t get too many pictures after that, because we pulled out and dumped about five Mule-loads of junk and trash while the guys were brush-hogging and tree-trimming—you know, how guys do it, with one on the tractor and one in the bucket. Sheesh.

Also, the two ceiling fans were installed. Again, no pictures of them. Yet.

We managed to get in two campfires and some short hikes . . .

My husband elected to stay down there for a few extra days, so by the next installment here you should get the full effect of the sanding-skimming-painting episodes . . .

Then, it’s on to the kitchen destruction. Oy.

Oh, wait! There’s more!

We took a quick trip into town and saw:

Yep. Standing on a flatbed truck, singing. No lie. And on the way home, there were two clowns behind us at the stoplight.

Yep. Rodeo clowns. In facepaint. What a strange day…

Work Wednesday—What a Weekend!

Last week, on the way to the farm, my husband wanted to look at tractors.

I should have known. Every time he says “look,” we end up buying. Especially when he repeats, presumably for MY benefit: we’re JUST looking!

We stopped at the first dealership and looked at a few models and few implements; we stopped at the second dealership and looked at a couple more.

By the time we got back on the road, we were expecting a Friday delivery of this:

And this:

And of course, that meant we had to add another thing to our to-do list—cleaning up the barn.

I’m starting to think that we need a bigger barn . . .

Naturally, tractor shopping is very tiring, so we were going to put in a movie and hit the sack early when we started hearing music. Normally, our neighbor will crank it up and we can hear it outside—which is fine, it’s good music—but this time we were inside with all the windows and doors closed.

Turns out, he didn’t even realize we were there, and they were having a bonfire up near the road, burning more of our old house. So we joined them.

Sadly, we also learned of an auction in town the next day:

Well, that took care of Saturday’s work plans, although we did get in some painting [shudder] and a couple other errands—oh, and cleaned up the barn.

Very long day . . .

We did finish the office, except for floors, and were able to move our “campsite” back in there. Maybe, just maybe, this coming weekend will see new ceiling fans and the sanding and painting finished.

Maybe.
